چکیده

In this paper, we propose a novel surface reconstruction technique based on Bayesian statistics: The measurement process as well as prior assumptions on the measured objects are modeled as probability distributions and Bayes’ rule is used to infer a reconstruction of maximum probability. The key idea of this paper is to define both measurements and reconstructions as point clouds and describe all statistical assumptions in terms of this finite dimensional representation. This yields a discretization of the problem that can be solved using numerical optimization techniques. The resulting algorithm reconstructs both topology and geometry in form of a well-sampled point cloud with noise removed. In a final step, this representation is then converted into a triangle mesh. The proposed approach is conceptually simple and easy to extend. We apply the approach to reconstruct piecewise-smooth surfaces with sharp features and examine the performance of the algorithm on different synthetic and real-world

Target detection Bridge Modelling using Point Cloud Segmentation Obtained from Photogrameric UAV

In recent years, great efforts have been made to generate 3D models of urban structures in photogrammetry and remote sensing. 3D reconstruction of the bridge, as one of the most important urban structures in transportation systems, has been neglected because of its geometric and structural complexity. Due to the UAV technology development in spatial data acquisition, in this study, the point cl...

Conditional Random Fields for Airborne Lidar Point Cloud Classification in Urban Area

Over the past decades, urban growth has been known as a worldwide phenomenon that includes widening process and expanding pattern. While the cities are changing rapidly, their quantitative analysis as well as decision making in urban planning can benefit from two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) digital models. The recent developments in imaging and non-imaging sensor technologies, s...

A Bayesian Approach to Manifold Topology Reconstruction

Acknowledgment We would like to thank Martin Bokeloh (WSI/GRIS, Uni Tübingen), Ruxandra Lasowski (MPI Informatik, Saarbrücken) and Nils Hasler (MPI Informatik Saarbrücken) for their helpful and constructive comments on our paper. Abstract In this paper, we investigate the problem of statistical reconstruction of piecewise linear manifold topology. Given a noisy, probably undersampled point clou...

Effective Shapes Generation for Bayesian CAD Model Reconstruction

We address the reconstruction of CAD models from 3D point clouds, assuming that an a priori CADmodel, roughly similar to the scene to reconstruct, is given. The problem can be solved using a Bayesian approach which states the reconstruction task as the search of the most probable CAD model. This article presents a reliable cylinder generation algorithm that can be used to efficiently reach the ...

Estimation and Reconstruction Based on Left Censored Data from Pareto Model

In this paper, based on a left censored data from the twoparameter Pareto distribution, maximum likelihood and Bayes estimators for the two unknown parameters are obtained. The problem of reconstruction of the past failure times, either point or interval, in the left-censored set-up, is also considered from Bayesian and non-Bayesian approaches. Two numerical examples and a Monte Carlo simulatio...
